Corporate Retreat Venues Near Las Vegas: Off-Strip Resorts and Drive-To Options
October 1, 2026 ยท 8 min read

I'm a Las Vegas local and a travel advisor, and the corporate groups I work with tend to ask me the same question early on: do we have to stay on the Strip?
You don't. The Strip is excellent at hosting 5,000 people for a trade show. A leadership retreat for 20 is a different job. It needs a room where people can think, a dinner where they can hear each other, and an afternoon that isn't spent walking past slot machines to get to the next session.
The good news is that Las Vegas has real options for that, within 20 minutes of the airport and within a two-hour drive. Here's how I match a team to the right one.
The short version
| Venue | Where | Distance from the Strip | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa | Summerlin | About 14 miles | Teams of 10 up to large groups that want resort quiet with Vegas close by |
| Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa | Henderson | About 17 miles, about 20 minutes | Offsites that want a lake, a village and a slower pace |
| The Retreat on Charleston Peak | Mount Charleston | About 40 miles, 45 minutes to an hour | Board retreats and small leadership teams |
| Red Mountain Resort | Ivins, near St. George, Utah | About two hours | Small teams that want hiking, wellness and red rock scenery |
| A Strip resort | The Strip | You're on it | Large groups, short trips and teams that want the nightlife |
When the Strip still wins
I'm not anti-Strip. For some groups it's the right call, and I'll tell you when it is.
If you're bringing a large group, flying everyone in for two nights, or planning a reward trip where the shows and the restaurants are the point, the Strip is hard to beat. Everything is close, the inventory is deep and the airport is minutes away.
The trade-offs are the ones you'd expect: noise, distraction, and room rates that move with the convention calendar. A big trade show in town can double what you pay for the same room, which is why I check your dates against the convention schedule before we commit to anything.
Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa, Summerlin
This is the one I suggest most when a team wants resort quiet but doesn't want to feel far from Las Vegas. It sits on the west side of the valley, about 14 miles from the Strip, with Red Rock Canyon on its doorstep.
Red Rock has a dedicated conference center and about 100,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, and it hosts groups from 10 up to 1,500. That range matters. A team of 12 doesn't get lost in it, and a company of several hundred still fits.
For a retreat, the location is the selling point. You can hold the morning session, take the group into Red Rock Canyon in the afternoon and be back for dinner without anyone touching the Strip.
Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa, Henderson
Lake Las Vegas is the option people don't expect. The resort sits on the water in Henderson, about 17 miles from the Strip, a 20-minute drive, next to MonteLago Village with its marina, shops and water sports.
It changes the feel of an offsite. Breaks happen on a lakeside patio instead of a hallway, and the team-building afternoon can be on the water. For a sales kickoff or a planning offsite that runs two or three days, the slower pace is the whole point.
The Retreat on Charleston Peak, Mount Charleston
This is the smallest option on the list, and for the right group it's the best. The lodge sits up in the Spring Mountains, about 40 miles from the Strip, a drive of 45 minutes to an hour depending on where you start.
It's a mountain lodge with 71 rooms and banquet space for a group of about 200, so it suits a board retreat, an executive team or a leadership offsite that wants no distractions at all. In summer it's cooler than the valley, and the trails start close by.
The trade-off is scale and season. It isn't built for a big conference, and winter weather can affect the road, so I plan the transport and the timing around it.
Red Mountain Resort, near St. George, Utah
When a team asks for something within driving distance of Las Vegas that feels like a different world, this is where I look. Red Mountain Resort is in Ivins, just outside St. George, about two hours from Las Vegas, surrounded by red rock canyons.
The conference center has close to 10,000 square feet of event space and is set up for groups of about 10 to 100. The resort builds retreats around guided hikes, team-building workshops and spa time, which makes it a strong fit for a small team that wants the retreat to reset people, not just inform them.
The two-hour drive is part of the plan. I book the group transport so it's one coach and one schedule, and the drive becomes the first conversation of the retreat.
How I pick the right one for your team
Before I suggest a venue, I ask a few things:
- How many people, and how senior? A board of eight and a sales team of 120 need different rooms.
- What's the trip for? Work sessions need quiet. A reward trip needs fun.
- Where is everyone flying from? The closer to the airport, the easier the arrival day.
- What time of year? Summer heat, winter roads and the convention calendar all change the answer.
Then I send the brief to the venues that fit, compare what comes back and bring you the options side by side. If you want the full picture of how I run a retreat from flights to farewell dinner, my Las Vegas corporate retreat playbook walks through it. For the afternoon off, my guide to group day trips from Las Vegas covers Hoover Dam, Death Valley and the Grand Canyon.
